Getting Started using the Sport Court Manager

Sports Court Manager – Getting Started

Sports Court Manager is designed to help organise social court sessions where players rotate between a number of courts during the session.

The app currently supports up to 24 players and four courts. It keeps track of who is playing, who is waiting, and allows players to be moved between courts easily.

Before a session begins, you can choose how many courts are available and how many players will be taking part. The app then uses those settings when creating the court allocations.

Starting a Session

When you start a new session:

  1. Select the date of the session.
  2. Select the number of courts that are available.
  3. Select the players who are attending.

Players who have attended previous sessions are remembered by the app, so you do not need to enter their names every time.

Regular players are shown prominently, making them easy to select. Less frequent players can also be found using the search facility.

The number of selected players is shown before the session starts, allowing you to check that everyone attending has been included.

Once the courts and players have been selected, start the session.

Allocating Players to Courts

The app will allocate the available players across the four courts.

Each court can contain two, three or four players, with the app attempting to get as many people playing as possible.

If there are more players than can currently fit on the courts, the remaining players are placed in the Waiting area.

Moving Players

Players can be moved manually at any time.

Simply drag a player’s name from one court to another, or between a court and the Waiting area.

This makes it easy to adjust the automatically generated arrangement if required.

Swapping Players

Players can also be exchanged between courts, or between a court and the Waiting area, using Swap Mode.

  1. Tap the Swap button to enter Swap Mode.
  2. Tap the first player you want to swap.
  3. Tap the second player.
  4. The two players will exchange positions.

You can continue making additional swaps while Swap Mode is active.

When you have finished swapping players, tap Cancel to leave Swap Mode and return to normal operation.

Players Arriving Late

If somebody arrives after the session has already started, they can be added to the session without having to restart it.

The new player can then be placed on a court or added to the waiting group.

Between Games

At the end of a game, use the app to create the next court allocation.

The intention is to keep players rotating through the courts while giving waiting players the opportunity to join the next round.

You can still manually adjust the allocation afterwards if necessary.

Ending the Session

When the day’s play has finished, end the current session.

The app retains the player list and attendance information so that setting up the next session is quicker.

What I Would Like Testers to Look For

While using the app, please pay particular attention to:

  • Anything that does not behave as you expected.
  • Problems selecting or adding players.
  • Problems dragging players between courts or the Waiting area.
  • Court allocations that appear incorrect or unreasonable.
  • Layout or display problems.
  • Anything that is confusing or difficult to use.
  • Features that you think would make running a session easier.

If something goes wrong, a screenshot is particularly useful, together with a short description of what you were doing at the time.

The app is still under development, so feedback about both bugs and general usability is very welcome.
